Everywhere you look, you cannot get away from the Apple iPad tablet device, its even taken over from Hulu. So how about talking about both? Specifically, the point of iPad users being able to consider Hulu streams – and Hulu wanting those millions of users to increase their advertising revenue.
However, gigaom.com report in an interview with Hulu CEO Jason Kilar that Hulu is very seriously guessing about the mobile web, and is not ignoring the big shift to the mobile Internet. We have been here before though, with the reports of a Hulu coming to iPhone with an app. Now that the mobile foodstuff has matured, the launch of iPad and Android and the success of the iTunes app store, the timing has never been better for Hulu to launch something for the mobile web.
Is Hulu Coming To iPad?
When pressed on an iPad version of Hulu, Kilar said: “We are very big believers in mobile and we don’t think about (just) one device only.” I would expect the Android version to show up start because it documentations jiffy, while Apple’s iPhone OS platform doesn’t. If Hulu has to support iPhone OS, it would need to re-encode its videos for them to function.
What’s more interesting is that he (and his cohorts at Hulu) think that the two mobile- and PC-centric versions of Hulu can not only coexist but fly high. He went on to add that while mobile is going to be a large component of its business, the company would still get a lot of its revenues and usage from the traditional web browser. “Mobile will always be like a snack duct but never will become the major (revenue) share of our business,” Kilar said.
